Chapter 3 - Color Line Drawings - Paint & Fills

***You will be learning LOTS of new skills in this Chapter.  Don't spend too much time on matching the colors and making your image look exactly like the final.  Focus on the skills and processes that you use to get to that final image.

You will be told what to do for the first couple of rows of signs.  The last step on Page 38 is "Continue with the other signs and save the file as MYsigns."  You can use any colors and processes that you wish here.
Lots of Hot Tips and Bewares here.  Colors, textures, names, etc. don't matter... just practice using the skills that you are being taught.

Using the Boatplan image, you are going to add the colors in the legend to your color swatches palette.  Then use those colors to fill in the image.  It doesn't matter which color you use for a specific area.

  1. Page 50 - Broadway... probably the project that will take the most time of all of them.  Be sure to read all of the beginning info on page 50.   You pick the colors!!
  2. Every new part of this dancer will be on a new layer (Hat, gloves, dress, dress2, legs, etc.); even if you are not instructed to do so!!
  3. On Page 51 - When you add new brushes, make sure you use Append.  This will add those new brushes to the brushes that are already there.  You don't have to use the exact brush they have pointed out.  This is just an example.
  4. Page 52 -  be sure to try out the different blending modes ... these will be good to work with later.
